The Legacy Society

The Legacy Society recognizes a special group of individuals whose commitment to the community has inspired them to create a lasting charitable legacy through the Delaware Community Foundation. They understand their gifts will provide support for the causes they care about long after they are gone, and have the foresight to include the Foundation in their long-term plans. The Legacy Society provides a way for us to recognize and thank our Society members during their lifetimes, even though some prefer to remain anonymous.

Become a Member
The following types of commitments qualify you for membership in the Delaware Community Foundation’s Legacy Society:

1. a bequest provision in your Will or revocable trust;
2. a life-income gift that names the Delaware Community Foundation as a remainder beneficiary, such as a charitable remainder trust, or a charitable gift annuity;  
3. a charitable lead trust that provides income to the Delaware Community Foundation for a donor’s lifetime or a term of years;
4. a gift or assignment of qualified retirement plan assets, such as an IRA, 401(k) or 403(b);
5. a gift of life insurance.

If you have already included a fund at the Delaware Community Foundation in a bequest or other planned gift, we hope you will let us know by filling out the member profile form. Your willingness to be listed as a member of our Legacy Society encourages others to follow your example. If you wish to remain anonymous, we will keep your gift confidential. Of course, if you have not yet included the Delaware Community Foundation in your plans and would like to explore the best options for you and your family, do not hesitate to contact us. We would be glad to assist you on a confidential basis and without any obligation.

By joining the Legacy Society, you allow us to thank you for your commitment. We appreciate the chance to stay in periodic contact and include you, as desired, in the life of the Delaware Community Foundation.
